While there are many things you can add to your festival décor to make it bright, colourful, and full of energy, now you can add a DIY paper lantern to make a statement. A paper lantern can be used for all kinds of festivals, from Diwali to Christmas.
Materials Required
- Origami Paper
- Stapler
- Scissors
Step 1
Take a A4 size paper and place it on the table. Remove a 2cm (1 inch) strip from the paper’s edge and keep it aside for lantern’s handle.

Step 2
Bring the two long sides of the paper together and fold it in half.

Step 3
Make a series of parallel cuts from the folded edge to within 2 cm (1 inch) of the edge, as if you were creating fringe.

Step 4
Unfold your piece of paper. Allow the slits to open by wrapping the edges around to form a tube and stapling the two edges together.

Step 5
To hold or hang your lantern, attach the extra strip to form a handle. And here a Chinese lantern is ready.

Enjoy making this DIY Paper Lantern and decorate your house with it this festive season.
